Torrey Pines Scale Soaring Society

Brief Overview

The Torrey Pines Scale Soaring Society grew out of the Torrey Pines Gulls as a separate club devoted to radio controlled scale sailplane design, construction and flight. These models replicate full-scale sailplanes ranging in size from two to five meter wingspan and in fidelity from museum quality to general replicas that call to mind the original aircraft. This special interest generally focuses on modern and vintage sailplanes, however there is also an interest in power scale soaring, that is, modeling powered aircraft but flying these as gliders.

Currently the President is Carl Gwartney.
